60 years of history in a logo
the new logo, which will officially be present on our products from 2026, celebrates the first 60 years of Ursus history.
60 years of stories, passion, and dedication.
60 years since that idea by Sergio Ferronato , the founder of Ursus, which revolutionized the world of bicycles.
A 60-year history
Each logo represents a historical moment, encompassing every small or large success but also the many challenges that have accompanied our brand.
What is the origin of the name Ursus?
1966
In 1966, Sergio Ferronato patented his version of a quick-release system for steel saddles. This was, at the time, the Ferronato family's first product on the market, extending its use to folding bicycles as well.
1967
Then came 1967 and marketing was taking off and Sergio needed a name, a trademark with which to distinguish himself from the competition.
The right idea came to him at the cinema, during the screening of an old film: “Quo Vadis”.
the name Ursus, dedication and motivation.
In the frames of this colossal “Peplum” genre we see the gladiator Ursus fighting bare-handed in the arena with a ferocious bull in a desperate attempt to save Lydia, his princess.
Sergio was literally inspired by the ideals of dedication and motivation conveyed by the character of Ursus.
He thought that these very ideals would be fundamental to the success of his entrepreneurial project.
He then decided to name his new company after the heroic gladiator.
Even today, these values guide Ursus in every decision it makes and are the foundation of a constantly evolving reality.
