Giro Next Gen: il team Biesse Carrera si aggiudica l'ultima tappa

Giro Next Gen: Team Biesse Carrera wins the final stage

Team Biesse Carrera's adventure at the Giro Next Gen ended with a bang, with the Continental team from Brescia - after Friday's placing in the sixth stage, finishing in Povegliano (Alessandro Motta finished tenth) - yesterday concluded the Giro d'Italia for Under 23s with a bang, celebrating in the eighth and final stage, starting from Tavagnacco and finishing in Trieste.
The winner was Denmark's Anders Foldager, who prevailed at the finish line in the two-man duel against Cretti (Team Colpack Ballan CSB). Completing the celebrations for the team led by Marco Milesi and Dario Nicoletti were Andrea D'Amato of Pavia, who finished fourth, and Alessandro Motta of Brianza, who finished tenth. For Foldager, a Dane born in 2001, this is his third win of the season, following his triumphs in the Memorial Polese and the Under-23 International Championships in San Vendemiano, as well as his third-place finish among the pros at the "Per sempre Alfredo" competition. The Nordic "arrow"'s trio of victories is united by its triumphant home: the North East.

The Dane from Team Biesse Carrera crowned his outstanding performance with victory: from the early stages of the stage, Foldager broke away in the company of Manuel Oioli (Q36.5 Continental), Luca Cretti (Team Colpack Ballan Csb), and Simone Griggion (Zalf Euromobil Fior), the quartet eventually gaining over five minutes on the peloton. Then the chasing pack mounted a comeback, with Foldager and Cretti dropping Oioli and Griggion on the climb toward Prosecco. The descent toward Trieste began with a 50-second lead on the group, a gap that proved unbridgeable, before the Dane from Team Biesse Carrera clearly prevailed in the two-man duel for the victory.

“It's a special feeling, a beautiful stage win; I'm extremely happy with this success. This year, the main goal here was to win a stage; at the start of the Giro Next Gen, I wasn't feeling great, but my feelings improved day by day, and this is the result."
