Ursus has built the Kodiak to be extremely resistant to the rough terrain that is common in this type of discipline. It has also combined this feature with the lightness and rigidity ensured by its unidirectional carbon monocoque rim with a 24 mm internal channel . These dimensions allow the Kodiak to be fitted with the latest generation wide tires.
From a purely structural point of view, this helps improve the rim/tyre coupling even at low inflation pressures, avoiding deformations during steering or braking.
Perfection is in the details: spokes and hubs for XC and Marathon
Resistance and grip are not enough: a true XC rider wants to have maximum control of his bike in the important recovery phase of pedaling.
That's why Ursus didn't just produce a reliable, lightweight, and stable wheel on the trail. Instead, they enhanced the "heart" of the Kodiak's movement, making two different pairs of thru-axle hubs available (100x15 and 110x15 BOOST front and 142x12 and 148x12 BOOST rear).
At XC level, the reference technology at the moment is BOOST, which provides for a greater distance between the flanges (i.e. 110 for the front and 148 for the rear. A greater distance stiffens the structure of the wheel, making the ride more precise and fluid).
Both hub versions are developed and manufactured by Ursus using micron-precise CNC machinery. This extreme manufacturing precision minimizes play between the various components, ensuring unparalleled smoothness.
The XD40 hub, compatible with Shimano, SRAM, and SRAM XD, gives riders an even more responsive wheel when revving. The performance package is completed by the lacing , designed to perfect the work of the 28 spokes. The result is a wheel with great lateral stiffness and high radial stress absorption.
