The seatpost has a decisive influence on the cyclist's posture, making it a very important component for racing bikes. It allows adjustment of two different parameters:
- seat height;
- seat setback.
Seat height is the distance between the seatpost clamp and the seat attachment. This height can change depending on the cyclist’s physical characteristics: in general, it must allow the leg to go through a full range and to extend during pedalling, but without straightening completely.
Seat setback represents the position of the seat longitudinally in relation to the frame. The correct position is achieved by sliding the seat back and forth on the seatpost. A more forward position is more aerodynamic and is therefore preferred in time trials, though the knee should not be brought forward of the pedal to avoid excessive joint strain and injury.
Ursus carbon and aluminium seatpost
Ursus offers two seatpost models: carbon and aluminium.
The Magnus SP700 carbon seatpost is extremely lightweight, weighing in at just 180 grams. The aluminium Magnus SP300 seat post is comfortable for cyclists.
Both Ursus models fit into the frame and are equipped with indicators to adjust the seat position in relation to the frame: this helps cyclists personalise their position to optimise performance and reduce the risk of muscle and joint injury, and excessive strain during pedalling.
Both are rigid seatposts, more suitable for racing bikes than telescopic or shock-absorbing seatposts, typically used on MTBs. Stiffness and lightness are the best qualities for every component of the bike in road cycling disciplines.
Why choose Ursus?
All Ursus products are designed, engineered and manufactured in-house, with the involvement of the Ursus engineers and mechanics, and based on feedback from cyclists who use Ursus products.
We use high-quality materials, reducing the weight of each component, including seatposts, for both top-of-the-line and amateur options. All Ursus bike accessories are high-quality solutions, made to work well, optimise cyclist performance in competition and last as long as possible.
Seat posts and other Ursus products are manufactured sustainably at our factory near Vicenza, Northern Italy, with a short supply chain.
