Behind The Race - Final Recap - Giro d'italia

BEHIND THE RACE
The Giro d'Italia ended a week ago, but the emotions we experienced are still vivid.
They remain etched like marks on the asphalt, like voices in our memory.
Behind the Race followed the Giro, seeking the heartbeat that accompanies every stage, beyond the news reports, deep within reality.
Every great achievement is made of details that don’t appear in the rankings, yet make all the difference. This is Behind the Race.
Romain Bardet gives his final interviews just before his last stage in a Grand Tour.
After thirteen seasons as a professional, marked by elegance and unforgettable exploits, he approaches retirement from road racing.
But not from the bike: he will continue riding in the gravel world and mentoring the young riders on the team.

Pink details accompanied the riders along every kilometer of the Giro, like a delicate thread weaving through all of Italy.
From balloons hanging on balconies in mountain villages, to hand-painted bicycles displayed outside cafés, to fresh stripes of paint on the sidewalks: everywhere, pink was not just a color, but a shared anticipation, a sign of love for the race.
Even when the peloton was far away, those small gestures were a reminder that the Giro was passing through, and that everyone, in their own way, was part of it. (Photo: Pocispix)

Two walls of enthusiastic fans framed the penultimate stage of the Giro, turning the mountain into an open-air theater.
The decisive climb, the majestic Colle delle Finestre, with its gravel switchbacks and legendary atmosphere, tested both legs and heart, delivering one of the most iconic scenes of this edition.
At over 2,100 meters, it is one of the toughest and most iconic climbs in Italian cycling.
Introduced to the Giro in 2005, it immediately became legendary: a place where stories are written of unforgettable attacks and fans forming a human tunnel all the way to the summit. (Photo: Cyclingimages)

The fans’ enthusiasm lit up the streets of Rome during one of the final passages of the Giro, turning the Eternal City into an open-air arena.
From the early hours of the morning, among cobblestones and monuments, thousands of people lined the circuit, bringing with them anticipation, emotion, and a growing excitement with every pedal stroke. (Photo: Pocispix)

The Colosseum, once a silent witness to ancient battles, became the backdrop for a new kind of excitement, bringing together the heroes of the past with the cyclists of today.
As the peloton sped past the Imperial Forums, the whole city seemed to hold its breath. Every attack, every turn, every pass was met with cheers from the crowd, as if even the old cobblestones wanted to clap.
In that moment, with wheels rattling over the stones and monuments casting long shadows, the Giro wrote a new story, full of passion and perfectly at home in the heart of history. (Photo: Pocispix)
